Muting The Bell

about

Bells produce a unique vibrational energy. The resulting timbre can be simultaneously beautiful and piercing. It is interesting then to think of metal vibrating beyond its physical composition. I sought to explore the process and ambition of humans using machinery to vibrate into a state of boundless matter, as attempted in the WW2 conspiracy named - Die Glocke or ‘The Bell.’ It is said to have been an ominous experiment involving German Nazi UFO technology. Die Glocke purportedly had an ability to vibrate beyond its physical structure to escape gravity and dimension without a typical propulsion system. Some basic information regarding Die Glocke can be found here: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_Glocke

In Muting The Bell, I wanted to further explore noise as texture to serve a larger palette of the overall work. Another idea of interest was to find the place where seemingly juxtaposed sounds can form a sort of cohesion. These opposing sounds and textures would be forced to interact and transform beyond their original intentions and states - so as to be free from the dimensional chamber that binds their existence.
